WHAT IS THE ILANGA CUP?

The Ilanga Cup is Southern Africa’s first closed track endurance circuit event, which is focused on driving the innovation of renewable energy. The event takes place annually and has been created for local solar car teams to put their solar vehicles to the test in a controlled environment, designed and focused on measuring the vehicles' performance, efficiency, and durability.

The three-day long event will take place at the Red Star Raceway in Delmas (Mpumalanga) from 19 to 21 July 2022.

The actual challenge will officially start on the 21st of July, challenging teams to an eight-hour long endurance test. Competitive solar car teams include new and experienced teams in solar challenges.

Scrutineering of the solar cars will commence from the 19th until 20th of July.
